Sophia Maisonneuve

Biography

Sophia Maisonneuve has been with Bayne Sellar Ertel Macrae since 2019 as a summer student. She began her articles with the firm in 2022 and was called to the bar in June of 2023.

Prior to her time at the firm, Sophia attended the University of Ottawa and obtained a combined degree in political science and Juris Doctor in French, graduating cum laude.

Sophia has worked under senior counsel on a wide range of files, including robbery, mischief, sexual assault, drug trafficking, human trafficking, fraud, arson, firearm offences, impaired driving, traffic and driving offences, and others.

She has developed a keen interest in helping society’s most marginalized members and is driven to help people navigate a confusing legal system.

Originaire du Nord de l’Ontario et fièrement bilingue, Sophia est heureuse d’offrir ses services en Français. Elle a eu la chance de travailler sur plusieurs dossiers en Français sous la direction d’avocats francophones expérimentés.

Sophia is a member of the County of Carleton Law Association, the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, and the Criminal Lawyer’s Association.
